Parents can open an investment account for their daughters under this scheme. They can deposit between ₹250 and ₹1.5 lakh each year. Currently, the account earns an interest rate of 8.2% on the deposited amount. This helps parents save money and secure a bright future for their daughters without financial worries.

Sukanya Samriddhi Yojana 2024 Eligibility 

  • Only the parents or official guardians of a girl child may open an SSY account.
  • The girl child must be a resident Indian and under 10 years old at the time of opening the account.
  • Only one SSY account can be opened for each girl child.
  • A family can open up to two SSY accounts, one for each girl child.
  • Sukanya Samriddhi Account can be opened for more than two girls in specific cases:
    • If a girl child is born before twin or triplet girls, or if triplets are born first, then a third account can be opened.
    • A third SSY account cannot be created if a girl child is born following the birth of twin or triplet girls.

Sukanya Samriddhi Yojana 2024 Required documents 

To complete your SSY application, you must visit the post office or bank branch where you applied and submit physical copies of the following documents:

  • Birth certificate of the girl child
  • Identity and address proof of the guardian
  • Medical certificate for proof of birth in case of multiple girl children born in a single birth
  • Additional KYC documents like Aadhaar card, Voters ID, etc.
  • Any other documents as specified by the post office or bank

Sukanya Samriddhi Yojana 2024 online apply

A girl child can have only one SSY account, which can be opened at any post office or authorized bank branch. This account can be started anytime between her birth and before she turns 10 years old.

Any resident Indian girl child can benefit from SSY from the time the account is opened until it matures or is closed.

To open a Sukanya Samriddhi Yojana (SSY) account, follow these steps:

  1. Visit the bank or post office branch where you want to open the account.
  2. Fill out the application form (Form-1) with all necessary details and submit the required documents.
  3. Make the initial deposit using cash, cheque, or demand draft. You can deposit any amount from Rs. 250 to Rs. 1.5 lakh.
  4. The bank or post office will process your application and deposit.
  5. Once processed, your SSY account will be opened, and you will receive a passbook as proof of account initiation.
