1 July National Doctor’s Day 2024 History

National Doctors’ Day started in India on July 1, 1991. This date honours Dr Bidhan Chandra Roy, a famous doctor and the second Chief Minister of West Bengal. Dr. Roy’s work in medical education and public health helped shape modern healthcare in India.

We celebrate Teachers’ Day, Father’s Day, and Mother’s Day to give respect to our Mother, Father and Teachers. Similarly, Doctors’ Day recognizes the hard work and service of doctors. The Indian Medical Association (IMA) helped create this day to give respect to the doctors of the country.

At first, National Doctors’ Day was celebrated with small events like seminars and medical camps. Over time, the importance of this day grew, leading to more public recognition. Today, National Doctors’ Day includes public gratitude, media coverage, and government initiatives. It is a special day to celebrate and appreciate the essential role of doctors in society.

How should a doctor treat a patient? Be it a govt doctor or a private doctor

Healthcare costs have risen a lot over the past few years, especially for serious diseases like cancer. These costs can sometimes use up all of a family’s savings or even force them to sell their homes.

According to a government survey, more than 70% of diseases in 2014 were treated in the private sector, which includes clinics, hospitals, and charitable institutions. There is a 4% gain in the rate.

The survey also found that more people in cities (79%) go to private healthcare providers than in rural areas (72%).

Many people are choosing private health providers because government-run hospitals often have poor infrastructure and are overcrowded.

The government hospitals provide better and cheaper treatment for patients who can’t afford private hospitals. But poor conditions, neglect by doctors, lack of beds, and lack of hygiene make government hospitals less appealing. Families are often afraid to admit their loved ones there. The government must improve these hospitals to ensure they provide both affordable treatment and better care.
