Elon Musk, the CEO of Tesla, has postponed his visit to India. He explained on X (formerly Twitter), saying, “Sorry, but I have a lot of important stuff to do with Tesla right now. I’ll come visit India later this year, though.” This announcement cleared up any confusion about the reason for the delay. Some speculate that it’s because he has an important meeting in the US on April 23.
What is Elon Musk’s plan for India?
The new dates for Elon Musk’s visit to India haven’t been decided yet. When he was supposed to come earlier, he planned to announce that Tesla would invest $2-$3 billion in India. Most of this money would be used to build a new factory. During his visit, Musk also planned to meet with Indian startups and space companies.
On April 10, Musk said he was excited to meet Prime Minister Modi when he came to India. This came around the same time the government said they were making a new rule to help companies make electric cars here. If companies agree to make electric cars in India, the government will give them some tax breaks.
Last year, Musk talked about maybe spending a lot of money in India through Tesla. The government wants foreign companies making electric cars to come here, and Tesla is one of the big ones they want to see.
