Oil marketing companies have announced a decrease in prices for 19 kg commercial cylinders and 5 kg FTL (Free Trade LPG) cylinders. Starting April 1, 2024, the price of a 19 kg commercial cylinder has been reduced by ₹30.50, bringing it to ₹1764.50 in New Delhi and various other states. Similarly, the price of the 5 kg FTL cylinder has been lowered by ₹7.50.
The Indian government offers subsidized domestic LPG gas cylinders weighing 14.2 kgs in various states, aiming to assist low-income individuals. Subsidies are directly deposited into customers’ bank accounts, ensuring they benefit from reduced prices. Currently, cooking gas is easily obtainable for most people across India.
In Delhi, the price of a domestic LPG cylinder is Rs. 903, and in Mumbai, it is Rs. 902.50. These reductions in LPG cylinder prices are being introduced in preparation for the Lok Sabha elections in May 2024.
