President Murmu Confers Bharat Ratna to LK Advani on his Residence
President Murmu will visit the residence of senior BJP leader LK Advani to give him the Bharat Ratna on 31st March 2024. This decision was made considering Advani’s declining health, as Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) sources stated. Advani a founding member of the BJP, played an important role in shaping the party during the 1990s. With this addition, the total number of Bharat Ratna recipients since its establishment in 1954 has reached 53.
President Murmu conferred Bharat Ratna to Charan Singh with others 4 Luminous
Additionally, President Murmu bestowed the Bharat Ratna upon former Indian Prime Minister Chaudhary Charan Singh posthumously at Rashtriya Bhavan. Jayant Singh who was the grandson of Chaudhary Charan Singh had accepted the award on his behalf. Alongside Charan Singh, the Bharat Ratna was conferred upon four other luminaries: PV Narasimha Rao, former Bihar Chief Minister Karpoori Thakur, agronomist MS Swaminathan, and BJP veteran LK Advani.
