ISRO’s Pushpak Viman Lands Successfully
Indian Space Research Organization (ISRO) has successfully executed its third mission. ISRO successfully implemented a Reusable Launch Vehicle (RLV) named Pushpak.
ISRO named the RLV “Pushpak” after the mythological Ramayana spacecraft and the organization completed its third mission with it.
The launch took place at around 7 am. This was executed at Chalkere Runway.
ISRO has shared on Twitter their successful RLV-LEX-02 Experiment and wrote their caption handle “SRO nails it again”.
RLV-LEX-02 Experiment
This mission is a part of ISRO’s ongoing efforts. The goal is to develop the necessary technologies.
For a completely reusable launch vehicle. This will allow cost-effective access to space.
The Indian Air Force helicopter carried the Pushpak RLV to an altitude of approximately 45 km.
Once the pre-determined conditions were met, the RLV was released.
ISRO has shared a successful landing video on Twitter. Watch here the video.
ISRO’s Pushpak Viman/Reusable Launch Vehicle’s Aim
According to ISRO, this mission is a part of the efforts of the space agency.
To develop the technologies required for a fully reusable launch vehicle, allowing cost-effective access to space.
ISRO Chairman S Somnath said that the Pushpak launch vehicle aims to make access to space as affordable as possible in India.
The most expensive part of India’s future reusable launch vehicle, the upper stage, is located.
The upper stage, which houses all the expensive electronics, is designed to be reusable. It is returned safely to Earth.
Later, India plans to bring the satellites back from orbit for refueling or refurbishing the satellites in orbit.
This is a step India is keen to take to reduce space debris with Pushpak.
ISRO’s Pushpak Viman/Reusable Launch Vehicle’s Design
India Today reports that Pushpak-RLV has been designed as a fully reusable spacecraft. It is capable of reaching orbit in a single step.
It includes key elements such as Advanced Technology Demonstrator X-33. Additionally, the Advanced Flight Demonstrator DC-XA is part of it.
ISRO says “Pushpak” consists of a fuselage, a nose hatch, double delta wings, and two vertical stabilizers.
In this, the active control surfaces are arranged symmetrically. These include the elevons and the rudder.
