Bombay HC stops “Indrani Mukerjea Story” on Netflix before release

Indrani Mukerjea Story: The Mumbai High Court has dealt a setback to Netflix. They are stopping the screening of ‘The Indrani Mukerjea Story,’ a documentary about the Sheena Bora murder case. Responding to objections from the Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI), the court has issued additional directives for special screenings. The CBI asserts that the web series may not only affect the Sheena Bora murder case. But could also have implications for other ongoing trials, notably referencing the Aarushi Talwar murder case.

Why did Bombay HC stop Indrani Mukerjea Story

In response to the court’s intervention, Netflix is now tasked with arranging special screenings for the High Court, CBI officers, and lawyers. The case will resume its hearing on Thursday, February 29, after these exclusive viewings. Currently underway in the CBI court, the Sheena Bora murder case involves 237 witnesses, with 78 having already testified. The CBI expresses concerns that the documentary may sway other witnesses.

Central to the controversy is the CBI’s objection to portraying the main accused as innocent while the trial is ongoing. Therefore, they stress the necessity of watching the documentary before its public release. Despite the initial release of the trailer, it is currently inaccessible.
